Some years ago as I was studying the Beatitudes in Matthew 5, I found a word study had been done on the word Blessed. In that word study, it was found that the word Blessed translated in Greek is from two words. One is ma or me and means “not”. The other is from ker and means “fate” or “death”. When these two words are combined it indicates the blessed person, the child of God is not subject to the whims of fate.
There was something in this revelation at the time that made me want to shout in triumph. The life of the child of God is blessed. It is in the providence of God and we can say with Paul the Apostle, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28)
You will rarely hear me tell someone, “Good luck” as luck is not something that belongs to the child of God. But you will often hear me say, “Be Blessed.” Because no matter what situation you are in, if you are a child of God, you are truly Blessed.
In Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance Greek Dictionary of the New Testament, the Greek word used for Blessed in the Beatitudes is the word Makarios. Thus the name was chosen for this ministry.
As these lessons progress and you read testimonies of my life and this ministry you will further understand my strong personal convictions in clinging to and standing on the solid Word of God through every trial and storm that befalls our lives. Jesus said “In this world, you will have troubles. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
The day the pain in my body became so strong that I had to walk with a cane was one of the most humbling experiences of my life. I was a teacher, preacher, minister of God’s Word. I had been raised in a church of strong Pentecostal belief and Divine Healing is a big part of that belief. Where was my faith? How could this happen to me?
But through these past years, I have heard the Lord speak to me many times the word “Blessed” as He spoke in the Sermon on the mount. I have realized that I am not subject to fate and that there is a purpose in all things.
I still teach and preach Divine Healing as it is still for the child of God today. I have witnessed miracles of Divine Healing. I will preach, I will teach, and will sing for my Lord and depend on Him to give me the strength to work through the pain and give glory to Him and Him alone. My healing is in His hands and is done and one day will be manifest. Until that day His Grace is sufficient and I will Glorify Him.
Love in the Lord & Be Blessed,
Brenda Smith
