Music That Ministers

It was a beautiful day in September when one of my best friends, Darla, and I left Roy, Utah headed for Oklahoma City to fulfill a dream that was a part of me since I was a child. To make a professional recording glorifying the Lord through song. Thanks to many friends and a church fellowship that believed there was a true anointing and call of God on my life this dream was finally coming true. It was through them, my wonderful friends at North Park Foursquare Church in Roy, Utah that this dream was made possible financially. That is why I titled the album “From My Heart to Yours”.

The drive to Oklahoma City was wonderful. Darla and I had a chance to relax and get away from the daily chores of being wives and mothers. Enjoy each other’s company and God’s presence. We were able to stay with dear friends of mine living in Oklahoma City, Rev. James and Arlena Burnsworth. Bro. James was, at that time, the Secretary and Treasurer to the Oklahoma District of the Pentecostal Church of God and Sis. Arlena was the district PLA director. Their hospitality and Christian fellowship were a blessing beyond words and I will always be grateful to them for the time spent there.

Having only enough money to pay for 8 hours of recording time (including the mix) I knew the Holy Spirit’s presence would have to be mighty in that recording studio, and He was. It was amazing how quickly we went through the songs and how few retakes were necessary. I could feel the anointing of the Holy Spirit and His presence so strong that at times it made my knees weak. I will also always be grateful to Johnny Walls the production engineer for his patience and expertise in making me feel so comfortable as I was a very nervous first-timer. Without him, I doubt we would have finished it all in time. He was wonderful.

There is a testimony for each song. Each song was chosen for a special reason or a special person. I will be writing my testimony for each song so that you will be able to read my testimony as to why I chose that song and what it means to me. When I sing a song I always pray for God’s special anointing through that song. If the song touches me deeply as I sing then I know in my heart that somewhere in the congregation it is reaching out to someone else.
